Railways set record with Rs 25,000 crore profit: Lalu

Presenting his fifth Rail Budget in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad said that the Railways had set up new profit records in 2007-08 attaining a profit of Rs 25,000 crore.

Everybody is happy with our performance, said Lalu. He also added that the Railways had done tremendous work in the year 2007-08.

He said that operating ratio of the Railways was at 76% and that Rs 49,250 crore invested into new railway projects.

Productivity of Railway assets has been constantly increasing, Lalu said.

Railways profited due to the UPA government's policies, he said.

Railway plan size increased from Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore in the last four years.

Number of passenger trains were increased in the peak season.

आम आदमी का ‘ध्यान’ रखेंगे लालू

यादव पूर्वी और पश्चिमी ट्रंक रूट के समानान्तर माल गाड़ियों के लिए अलग लाइनें बिछाने की बुनियाद रखने रेलवे स्टेशनों के आधुनिकीकरण यात्री सुविधाओं के विस्तार रेलवे स्टेशनों के आस-पास शीतग्रहों और कृषि व्यवसाय के केंद्रों को विकसित करने की घोषणाओं को मूर्त रूप देने का यह दुर्लभ अवसर शायद ही गंवाना चाहते होंगे।रेलमंत्री देश में बुलेट ट्रेन शुरू करने के प्रस्ताव को लेकर कभी भी बड़े उत्साहित नहीं रहे हैं पर इस बार का बजट राज्यों के साथ मिल कर बुलेट ट्रेन चलाने की सम्भावनाओं का पता लगाने की दिशा में कोई प्रगति दिखा सकता है।

छूटों की सौगात लाएगा लालू का बजट

रेलवे बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष के.सी. जेना 03.30 बजे रेल भवन में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में बजट की बारीकियों पर पत्रकारों के सवालों का जवाब देंगे।रेल मंत्री लालू यादव ने अपने कल पढ़े जाने वाले बजट भाषण की ‘जिल्द’ प्रेस छायाकारों को दिखाई। परम्परागत रूप से हर रेलमंत्री एक दिन पूर्व छायाकारों को इस तरह का अवसर देता है। उन्होंने इस मौके पर बजट के बारे में कोई भी टिप्पणी करने से इंकार करते हुए कहा, “मैं कल बोलूंगा।”अनुमान लगाया जा रहा है कि पिछले वर्ष की तरह इस वर्ष भी यादव सस्ती विमान सेवाओं से बढ़ती प्रतिस्पर्धा से निपटने के लिए उच्च श्रेणी वातानुकूलित यान के किरायों में कुछ और रियायत कर सकते हैं। ज्यादा शायिकाओं वाले स्लीपर क्लास के डिब्बों के किरायों में भी रेल मंत्री से कुछ रियायत की उम्मीद की जा सकती है।

धरती पर घूमता था एक टन का चूहा!

लंदन वैज्ञानिको ने एक टन से भी ज्यादा वजनी चूहे के जीवाष्म का पता लगाया है जो आज से करीब 40 लाख वर्ष पहले पृथ्वी पर घूमा करता था। बैल के जितना बड़ा यह चूहा दक्षिणी अमेरिका में घूमा करता था जब उत्तरी अमेरिका इस हिस्से से नहीं जुड़ा था।“डेली टेलीग्राफ” की खबर में बताया गया कि यह जीवाष्म उरूग्वे के रियो डे ला प्लाटा में पाया गया। यह चूहे की उस प्रजाति का है जिसमें डिनोमिस ब्रानिकी शामिल है।चूहे की इस प्रजाति का वजन करीब 15 किलो तक हो जाता है।जीवाष्म का विस्तृत अध्ययन कर रहे डा. एर्नोस्टो ब्लांको ने बताया कि चूहे के जीवाष्म की खोपडी करीब 20 इंच लंबी है तथा पूरी लंबाई करीब आठ फुट है। इससे पता लगता है कि यह बैल की तरह का रहा होगा। इसके दांत चार इंच के हैं और दांत की बनावट देखकर लगता है कि पानी में होने वाले पौधे इसका आहार रहे होंगे। यह जीवाष्म 1987 में पाया गया था और उरुग्वे के राष्ट्रीय संग्रहालय मे बक्से में बंद धूल खा रहा था। संग्रहालय के संरक्षक एंड्रीज रिंडरनेट ने इसे देखा और अपने सहयोगी शोधकर्ता एर्नेस्टो ब्लांको ने इसका अध्ययन करने को कहा। ब्लांको के मुताबिक, जब उन्होंने पहली बार चूहे के जीवाश्म को देखा तो वे चौंक गए “क्योंकि यह गाय की खोपड़ी से भी बड़ा था।”

Railway Budget 2008 : कभी किराया नहीं बढ़ाया लालू ने

नई दिल्ली। वर्तमान लोकसभा में कल संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन (संप्रग) सरकार का अंतिम रेल बजट पेश करने जा रहे रेलमंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव आज ऐसी स्थिति में ही जहां से वह इतिहास में एक ऐसे रेलमंत्री के रुप में नाम लिखवा सकते हैं। जिसने पांच वर्ष तक रेल किराए में कोई बढ़ोतरी नहीं की।बहुत सम्भव है कि वह एक नया इतिहास रचकर ही रहें। यादव ने 2004 में अपने पहले बजट से अब तक किरायों में वृद्धि नहीं की है। रेलवे की वहन क्षमता में वृद्धि कर इस लोकउपक्रम को ‘प्रबंध गुरु’ कहा जाने लगा है उन्होंने जनता के रेलमंत्री की अपनी छवि को पुख्ता करने के लिए पिछले वर्ष वातानुकूलित प्रथम और द्वितीय श्रेणी के किरायों में दो से छह प्रतिशत की कमी की थी। साधारण श्रेणी के किरायों में एक रुपए की सांकेतिक कमी कर उन्होंने आज जनता के प्रति अपनी प्राथमिकता को जताने का एक और कदम उठाया था।

The Indian Budget for the year 2008 is going to be declared on the 28th of February. This blog will try to elucidate what the aspirations of the people are. Inbian Budget 2008, should probably be one of the key players in the forth-coming elections and will be interesting to watch on all probablities.With falling dollar value and Interest rates and an ever unstable market, the finance minister is going to have a tough time preparing a budget that will please all.But knowing Mr. Chidambaram as he is this is going to be either a last minute surprise or a disaster.
